Duluth Tenants Union

The Duluth Tenants Union approached me as a local artist to create a logo that would reflect the organization’s grassroots mission and commitment to protecting renters. With roughly 40% of Duluth households occupied by renters, housing security is an issue that affects a large part of our community. As someone who values community action and collective care, I was excited to contribute to a project focused on strengthening tenant solidarity and advocacy. I developed a handmade, hand-drawn logo featuring a wolf curled protectively around a home.

The wolf symbolizes strength, vigilance, and the power of a community working together, while its protective posture around the house represents the Duluth Tenants Union’s mission to defend and preserve safe, stable homes for renters. By embracing an organic, handcrafted aesthetic rather than a polished corporate look, the logo reflects the human-centered, neighbor-to-neighbor spirit that drives the organization and the belief that communities are strongest when people come together to protect one another.
